It is not selfishness,
It is take care ourselves, before take care other.
It is saving ourselves, before saving other.
This safety rule on airplanes is crucial: Put on your own oxygen mask first, then assist others (including children). The core reason: self-preservation is essential for saving lives. In the event of decompression or hypoxia at high altitudes, passengers typically only have a few seconds of "effective consciousness." If you attend to others first, you are likely to faint from hypoxia within seconds, resulting in both of you losing your chance of survival. Ensuring you remain conscious is crucial for continuing to provide assistance.
Similarly, at home, if a child or elderly person is sick, such as with the flu, remember to protect yourself first. Wear a mask, constantly disinfect your hands, avoid close contact with the sick person, and don't speak to them mouth-to-mouth. Don't become so selfless and reckless in caring for the sick person, otherwise you will also become infected. Caring for the sick is already difficult enough; now you also have to be cared for, as if everyone is suffering together... It's like a grand opera performance!
