I have been fortunate enough to read and learn the wisdom of the following classic sayings:
"Bodhi has no tree, nor is the bright mirror a stand; Originally there is nothing, so where can dust alight?"
• Source: Huineng, Tang Dynasty, "Bodhi Verse"
"The net of Heaven is vast, its meshes are wide, yet nothing escapes it."
• Source: Laozi, Chapter 73 (Pre-Qin Dynasty)
"Cultivate oneself, regulate one's family, govern the state, and bring peace to the world."
From the Confucian classic *The Great Learning* (Liji).
"The movement of Heaven is strong; the superior man makes himself strong and untiring. The nature of Earth is receptive; the superior man carries the world with virtue."
From the ancient classic *The Book of Changes* (Zhouyi)
(From the *Image Commentary* of the Qian and Kun hexagrams respectively). Confucian thought.
I am grateful to my parents for providing me with a Malaysian Chinese education from primary to secondary school, allowing me to learn these precious thoughts and noble wisdom from Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism through *Selected Sayings* and *Idioms*.
When I was a student, I always found some of these materials difficult to understand and remember. But now, looking back with appreciation and gratitude, and appreciating them like reading historical stories or watching period films—learning without pressure—these treasures are much easier to remember, understand, and apply their wisdom to life.
Whenever I'm stuck in traffic on my way home from work, listening to these videos is incredibly beneficial and fulfilling. They teach me wisdom that I can apply, helping me avoid pitfalls and perhaps even achieve breakthroughs in life. 😁
May today's students learn from the valuable wisdom of our predecessors with appreciation and gratitude, applying what they learn to care for their families, give back to society, and create a harmonious and bright future.
