还记得在韩江中六1998年，当时我即将面对STPM的考试，有幸我们在Tanjong 的补习老师, 为我们安排Dato Lawrence Chan 给我们激励课程，若没记错，Dato 细诉一位成功人士，因为他心中常想，在不远处，有他过世了的亲人在看着他，所以使他有力量的去完成他的比赛，而取得成功！
from a distance 那首歌就是在那课程尾端时响起，让全场轰动，把我们的血脉，热血推向高峰，使我们相信，我们可以应对STPM这挑战，而且能取得好成绩！
不久过后，Penang 市议会也邀请Dato再次给激励讲座，我那时也第二次参加这激励课程，难得这珍贵的两次缘份。
Dato Lawrence 还是我们1992年汤杯和那时双打好手谢顺吉和叶景福的激励教练。
今天得知这疆讯，自己有些难过，毕竟Dato Lawrence 是我人生其中一个很有影响力的贵人和Motivator, 感恩有您。。

Dato Lawrence Chan
I remember back in Han Chiang Form Six in year 1998, facing the STPM exams, our tutor in Tanjong arranged a motivational session with Dato Lawrence Chan. If I remember correctly, Dato recounted the story of a successful person who always thought of his deceased loved ones watching over him, giving him the strength to complete his competition and achieve success!
The song "From a Distance" played at the end of that session, causing a sensation and igniting our passion and confidence that we could meet the challenge of the STPM and achieve excellent results!
Shortly after, the Penang Municipal Council invited Dato to give another motivational talk, and I attended his session for the second time. It was a rare and precious opportunity.
Dato Lawrence was also our motivational coach for the 1992 Thomas Cup and for our men doubles, Xie Shunji and Ye Jingfu.
I was saddened to hear this news today, as Dato Lawrence was one of the most influential mentors and motivators in my life. I am grateful for your presence.
